I’m not a writer. How can I be when I barely passed English Literature in school? I swear I understood what was involved in writing an essay, much like an amateur sketch artist knows what an apple looks like, but, unfortunately, what came out on paper was applesauce. Sometimes, I was excited to discuss, in class, the pages I’ve read on our assigned reading, only to be told my comprehension was not only wrong, but totally out of whack! Ok, not exactly in that way, but they might as well have.
Year after year, my dyslexic and ADHD brain tried so hard to read the bright white, glaring leaves of many books and write about what I just read in the grammatically correct manner I was taught. Only to receive red scribbles of all my mistakes that would sloppily decorate my 100 words or so of run-on sentences and misuse of words altogether. I betcha some of you will correct this little snippet of my “about me” section, won’t ya? I know I must be missing at least a comma or two.
Now, here I am. Many years later, telling my family, I think I want to be a writer! Every time I say this, I can sense all my English Literature teachers gasping in fear and begging me to stick to what I know…picking up animal poop, (I’m also an animal/nature advocate/rescuer). Don’t get me wrong, I still pick up animal poop, but I want to do much more for these critters. I want to use my voice in a creative, non-preachy way. So, I wrote a book, (publishing in the works).
Books
My first book…yeah, you heard that right. I’ll be writing other books. Anyway, my first book, Archy & Alyvia, is an autobiography, kinda, written in a fantasy-like structure. I used some of my experiences with the natural world and turned it into a story I hope you all will enjoy. It’s honest, it’s raw, and I had a blast writing it! That’s what matters, right?
What also matters to me is that the reader gets out of this, and future writings, a way to look into themselves and possibly change their society-programmed views on how we treat our critter friends/neighbors and their majestic habitat. I hope you fall in love with the characters in my stories, much like I have. I’m sure you’ll have a favorite or two. Tell me about them. Tell me how my stories affected you. Comment at the bottom of the book’s web page. Remember, to keep your words respectful. There’s zero tolerance for cruelty and bullying here, so just be cool.
Thank you for purchasing my material and look forward to meeting you here!
