An unusual friendship. An unusual adventure neither Archy or Alyvia anticipated. I tell my story and my personal experiences with nature and *ki’s critters through these two important characters that journey through life without a moment of boredom. Will you guess which experiences are real and which come from the depths of my fantastical mind? Will I ever tell? Hmm, maybe one day. Will you come out of this literary journey the same person as when you started to turn the first leaf? I wonder.
Maybe, just maybe characters like the ones in this story have tried to meet you. Maybe, after you read this book, your eyes will look closer, your ears will listen more carefully, your nostrils will pick up scents that have surrounded you for so long, but you never took notice. Maybe your palate will become more sensitive to the taste in the air of the changing seasons, but most rewarding is maybe, just maybe you will take notice of a critter of the forest, sea, sky or desert, for the very first time. That critter, whether miniscule or gargantuan in size, will not only greet you, but accept you. Not with food or any form of bribery, but because of your senses becoming aware of what nature has been trying to tell you all along, because you listened to *ki. Maybe, YOU are the change.
*Ki/Kin (singular/plural) are the pronouns of the natural world.
P.S. After you read my book, this web page’s nostalgic photos of the Poconos will make sense.
